What are the situations in which you can receive a violation?
  • Toll Evasion: when you drive through a lane without a valid E-ZPass® tag mounted in your vehicle.
  • Insufficient Funds: When your account is below zero and you travel through an "E-ZPass® Only" lane.
  • Class Mismatch: When the vehicle class of the tag you are using does not match that of the vehicle you are driving.
  • Speeding: When you travel through the lane at a speed in excess of the posted limit.
I received a Toll Evasion Violation, what should I do?
The Toll Evasion Notice contains a lower portion that should be detached and mailed along with your payment.
I received a Toll Evasion Notice that I would like to dispute. What should I do?
Complete Section C located on the back of the Toll Evasion Notice. Mail to the following address.

I received a Speed Notice indication that my account will be suspended. I would like to dispute it. What should I do?
Your dispute must be submitted in writing to the Violations Processing Center at the following address.

You will need to identify the type of suspension, 60 Days, 180 Days or Revoked, the date and time of the occurrence and why you are disputing the Speed Suspension.

I have received a notice from a Collection Agency regarding unpaid tolls. What should I do?
You must address any questions regarding this notice directly to the Collection Agency using the number that is referenced on the notice.
How can I check the status of a violation?
Go to www.E-ZPassNY.com and click on Violations and follow the instructions. You will need your violation number and license plate number.
How can I pay my violations?
You have a choice of several ways to pay your violation notice.
  1. Pay online by clicking VIOLATIONS on the menubar and providing information from the Violation Notice you received.
  2. Pay by credit or debit card using our Voice Response System by dialing 1-800-333-TOLL(8655). Have your notice at hand.
  3. Pay by mailing a check. Follow the instructions on the front of your Violation Notice.
  4. Pay using cash at a retailer or kiosk location. Follow the instructions on the front of your Violation Notice.
